Good maintenance is essential if you want to work efficiently without unexpected surprises during the season. To help you prepare, PERFECT – Van Wamel has created a practical checklist.
Start the mowing season in a professional way with this maintenance checklist, suitable for all our rotary mowers and flail mowers.
The Complete Maintenance Checklist for Your Mower
Review the following six points to keep your machine in top condition:
1. Cleaning and protective covers
Always start with a clean machine. Also check whether all protective covers are in good condition and securely fastened to ensure a safe working environment.
2. Gearbox oil
A well‑lubricated gearbox is the heart of your machine. Check the oil level and the recommended oil change interval. Replace the oil if necessary, following the manual of your specific model.
3. Blades and mowing components
Inspect the blades of your rotary mower for sharpness and any damage. Dull or damaged blades reduce capacity and negatively affect mowing quality.
4. V-belts
Check the V-belts for correct tension and inspect them for signs of wear or fine cracks. Timely replacement prevents unexpected downtime in the field.
5. Bearings and lubrication
Check all bearings for play. Lubricate all rotating parts and grease points according to the official PERFECT maintenance guidelines.
6. PTO shaft and overload clutch
Inspect the PTO shaft and the overload clutch to ensure they function correctly. This protects both your tractor and your mower from peak loads.
Safety tip: Perform maintenance only when the machine is completely switched off and free of pressure. Always consult the manual of your specific model.

Is your machine fully ready after inspection, or do you need new parts? For the best results and longest service life, we always recommend using original PERFECT parts.

Maintenance is usually performed before the start of the mowing season. This helps prevent malfunctions and unexpected downtime while working. Regular inspections help ensure your machine operates reliably.
Important parts include the drive system, blades, V-belts, bearings, and protective components. These components are critical to the machine’s performance and safety. Regular inspection prevents wear-and-tear issues.
Look for signs such as damaged or dull blades, worn belts, or play in the bearings. Unusual noises or reduced performance can also indicate problems. Taking action early prevents more serious damage.
Always perform maintenance on a machine that is turned off and depressurized. This prevents risks during work. Also, consult the manual for specific safety instructions.
